My Last Day as the Lead Writer at FBI Consultancy Ltd

Lead Writer

I began working for Dr. Mark D. Yates in October 2016 for LBM and then FBI Consultancy Ltd. Originally, I was hired as the Lead Writer, but my role was varied; meeting with clients, managing their accounts, managing projects, and managing the other social media platforms.

Over this time, I developed into the professional writer that I am today. I learnt a great deal in digital marketing and SEO. Even before this role, I had experience as an SEO copywriter, but it took this extra push by this company to absorb the techniques of how to merge creative content writing with SEO digital marketing, specifically within business social media.

So, what did I learn?

SEO, Digital Marketing

As a professional content writer for a marketing company, it was important to know the ins and outs of SEO. Search engine optimisation in this respect was all about research and coming up with keywords to embed into the content.

Using tools such as Google Analytic and SERPs, I could look up the company I was writing for and research them and their industry. This is done with similar websites within the industry to find relevant words used. These analytics tools show which words are more often searched for.

FBI Consultancy have worked with clients from over 120 sectors, which means a lot of research has gone into the content writing and lead generation. I developed a strong understanding to how people absorb information online, so the written content should be concise, easy to read, and relevant.

Client Relations

I had already spent several years in customer service, dealing with customer queries. The role at FBI Consultancy meant I worked with business owners, directors, and CEOs. This led to developing an excellent form of professionalism, to not be intimidated by the higher-ups and big dogs. It helps to promote the service, because they’ll feel more at ease during the consultation and meetings.

I attended many meetings in boardrooms where Dr. Mark D. Yates explained the LinkedIn Consultancy services to the client. I took minutes in these meetings and offered my views and expertise, since I was the writer.

Client relations are very important in business as it’s the same as networking. It’s invaluable to make a connection with another professional. It’s something to keep hold of, as a lot of good business in conceived in this way. Confidence and friendliness go a long way.

Project Management

As the Lead Writer for FBI Consultancy, it was important to keep track and manage all the projects in order for them to be completed on time and efficiently. Some of the many clients we’ve dealt with were scuba diving equipment manufacturers, resin flooring companies, packaging, fulfilment, and facilities management. Therefore, I organised everything that was researched, written, scheduled, posted online, and who had been contacted and when.

When the content had been written, the next step in our service is to manage the clients’ LinkedIn accounts and generate sales leads for them. It’s important top stay on top of things, be aware of what you’re doing, and ensure the job gets done.

Social Media Marketing

FBI Consultancy Ltd offer a professional LinkedIn Consultancy service, which means we develop and manage LinkedIn accounts for company members in order to increase online brand visibility and generate sales leads. But in my role, I also managed our other social media accounts.

Twitter is an excellent tool for brand awareness and visibility. Here, you can join in with the current trends and hashtags. It may seem irrelevant to Tweet about #mondaymotivation but it gets your brand recognised.

Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Instagram are all important social media platforms that all businesses should employ. WordPress is a valuable website as well, as this is where you can build and manage a website, and it’s where all your blog posts sit. I learnt, as a content writer, that it’s not just words on the page, but the readability and SEO. You should have a focus keyword, an image on the page and a featured image. This all builds up to strong online content.

As this is my last day on the job, I’ll be tidying my desk and sorting through a lot of papers. I’ll have to do a hand-over and make sure I don’t leave anything behind. This is my last blog, but I have written and scheduled others to go out for several weeks after I leave.

Although I’m leaving, I’ll also be taking away with me an invaluable amount of knowledge and experience in the world of professional content writing, writing for businesses, and digital marketing. I’m going on to do new things as a professional writer, and I wish the guys at FBI Consultancy all the best.
