Social media is a fast-growing digital marketing tool, which many businesses have turned to in recent years. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn are just a few examples of the power of the social media platform. At FBI Consultancy Ltd, we leverage LinkedIn. This is a business social media platform, which allows businesspeople from multiple sectors to interact and attract new, profitable business. Dr. Mark D. Yates, CEO of FBI Consultancy Ltd, is a LinkedIn expert, interim director, management consultant, and professional motivational speaker. His skills in LinkedIn training and management consultancy has allowed his team of specialists to use business social media to help other businesses grow.
Here are 5 fantastic ways you can make a strong impact on social media.
Quality Content Creation
Content creation is the way forward with social media marketing. Because the platform is fast-paced, new and exciting content is important. But what’s more important is to ensure its what people want. No matter what your business sector is, whether you’re a security expert, management consultant, or interim director, its good practise to write content which takes a step away from what you do.
The best way to do this is to look out for what’s trending on social media. This could be a hashtag key word, which shows this is particular subject is popular and trending at this moment in time. In a way, it can be like jumping on the band wagon, but it’s a good way to take advantage and gain visibility. It’s not taken too seriously, it can be fun, as it’s all about interaction. So, if #throwbackthursday appears, you could post a photo of one of your team members from several years ago. Even though it’s nothing to do with what you’re selling, you’re getting your brand name involved and it puts your company in a positive light.
Also known as ‘sticky content’, this is content that people want to read, want to share, want to interact with. So, if you’re content is sticky and people are interested in it, they’ll be interested in you and your company.
Interaction on Social Media
Social media marketing is great for interacting directly with, not only customers, but with the general public. This allows companies to add a personal touch to their brand, as it gives them a voice to speak to people. This voice adds to the brand, which is why social media is such an important platform these days.
But it’s not just about talking. It gives companies the ability to listen. A lot of the time, companies can be seen negatively due the faceless image of the corporate world. However, social media interaction brings personality. It brings excellent customer service, too. It’s quick and direct, which means it’s good for solving problems as they arise and prevent them from getting worse. Think of it as instead of an unhappy customer waiting on hold on the phone, but to get it sorted straight away on social media.
At FBI Consultancy Ltd, our LinkedIn consultants and LinkedIn experts are constantly interacting on the LinkedIn platform. Posting updates, writing blog posts, and commenting on others’ posts to make a strong, yet positive impact.
Businesses have now adopted a more conversational tone when interacting with customers online. They’ve moved away from the stiff, corporate business tone and turned to a friendly, conversational tone, since its publicly visible and it benefits the company’s image as well as helping the customer. FBI Consultancy and their team of LinkedIn experts know how to interact with customers, and often set a professional yet friendly tone in their online content.
Connect and Expand Your Network
The larger your social media connections, the more of an impact you’ll make. You still have to network in the right places, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. Customers may favour one social media platform over another, so it’s important to network widely to gain a large visibility.
With LinkedIn, Dr. Mark D. Yates, CEO of FBI Consultancy Ltd, has 30,000 business connections (the maximum LinkedIn allows). This is because Dr. Yates is a Power Networker, and is a LinkedIn expert and a professional LinkedIn consultant. On LinkedIn, there are 1st level, 2nd level, and 3rd level connections, which means his reach can be over a million businesspeople. FBI Consultancy Ltd are a team of LinkedIn experts who leverage LinkedIn for businesses to find potential clients through strong lead generation.
I’ve mentioned #hashtags earlier in this article, so I’ll go back to them. These are an excellent tool for making a strong impact on social media. If you don’t what they are, hashtags (#) are put at the beginning of a key word or key phrase without spaces, which will then turn it into a clickable link to everyone’s post containing that hashtag. This means if you write something and put #mondaymotivation, your content will be put into that group, which allows more people to see it.
It’s good practise not to use irrelevant hashtags, which is seen as spam. But it is good to incorporate the hashtags into your sentences, rather than putting them on the end of the post. Either way, hashtags make it easier to track a promotion you’ve done, to see who’s talking about it. People who click on hashtags are more likely to interact as well.
At FBI Consultancy Ltd, what we could do to promote our interim director service is to use the hashtag #interimdirector in the post. This will allow us to find anyone who uses the same hashtag and also puts our post within that hashtag group so it doesn’t go unseen.
To make a strong impact on social media, you have to stay relevant. This means putting all these points together: create good content, interact, connect, and use hashtags. But it’s important to stay active online, and keep posting good quality content on social media.
Staying relevant by keeping up with social trends can be difficult sometimes. Google Alerts can give you news and information that is impacting society. These could update you with news on corporate security, for example, before it’s started to trend. Or even LinkedIn training before anyone else. Facebook and Twitter hashtags are a good way to see what is trending. Hashtags are also used on LinkedIn, and on the LinkedIn platform you can join LinkedIn groups to connect with likeminded businesspeople.
Seeing what is trending isn’t enough, you also need to know how people feel about that trend. Finding the trend that works for you, which you can use in a positive way, will allow you to leverage and gain a solid hold of the social media platform and make a strong impact.
Digital marketing and business social media provide excellent methods for brand promotion and visibility. They allow good lead generation, which begets new potential clients. Social media also allows your company to grow, as the more connections you have and interactions you make, the more likely you are to turnover a profit and sustain a good business.

Yates, is a professional motivational speaker who gives LinkedIn training to people looking to leverage LinkedIn to help their business grow.
